Montréal
So last minute I've been asked to represent my firm at the SIDIM. How exciting no? I've been to the ICFF and the Salon de Mobile but never the SIDIM. Is it similar? And... I've never been to Montreal so even though this is last minute please if you have any suggestions on architecture or lovely restaurants please, pray tell. I promise all the photos upon my return.

Valentin Loellmann
Being as I am lately... a bit desirous to work with my hands, I was sent into the clouds when I saw Valentin's work. The quality and shape of the pieces, the tactility of it. The warmth through the shapes there us just a bit of something that is... well... home. No? Please have a look at the rest of Valentin's portfolio.

Who doesn't enjoy a good bloody on Sunday. This is how I make mine.
16oz glass
1 long dash of Worcestershire
2 dashes of Cholula
1 espresso spoon of horseradish (not creamy!)
1 splash of Balsamic
fresh ground pepper
RW knudsen organic tomato juice
a quick squeeze of fresh lemon juice
Ketel One Vodka (you choose how much I do a three count, sorry I don't know oz.)
to be honest I'm a little heavy handed the Mister calls them "afternoon killers"
throw it back and forth from glass to shaker to glass to shaker to glass then add whatever pickled goods you have on hand...
today its green beans, onion, olives, cornichons and then a stalk of celery, mmm mmm yum!
p.s. photo taken during the weekend in Los Angeles with our good friends Katia and Marc. These were their handywork not mine

Out on the Bay!
A good friend invited the Mister and I and some friends out on his boat for the day. It really couldn't have been a more stellar afternoon of sunshine, beautiful views and good company. (Thanks Andy!) Here's wishing you all the same this weekend.
p.s. How's that for a view of the Goldengate? Andy told us his grandmother danced on top of it when it was first constructed. I want to see pictures... don't you?
p.p.s. The "Arabian Nights" boathouse makes me giggle.

MP for FH
I really can't think of a lovelier collaboration Minä Perhonen and Fritz Hansen. There are so many similarities between Scandinvian design and Japanese design. Don't you think?

Dear Vera
I've had a love affair with Vera Neumann's scarves from the first time I came across one. What I didn't know is that she did napkins, tea towels, and aprons too. (among other things) What a lovely life. Drawing and painting every moment and applying those images to the items that surround you.
I began my ebay search for a few items but kept deleting them from inbox each time trying to convince myself this was not a need, but a want. And wouldn't you know it that when the Mister and I were down visiting my Belle-Mére, I came across a few Vera napkins while setting the table. She then went through a few more things and managed to find an apron and a couple more napkins and gifted them to me. I really couldn't be luckier!

Listmaker?
Are you a list maker?
I try to be but I'm not always so successful. It usually goes something like this... make a list cross a few things off, lose list. Make another list cross a few things off, lose list, Make another list... well you see where this is going.
I was cleaning up some paperwork and bills the other day and I found about 6 lists. Yikes! Perhaps if I make illustrated lists or analyzed charts (like above) my lists might be more effective.
I've recently added my lists to my phone, but I'm not sure this is going to work either, besides its not as fun to just erase things from a list its much more satisfying to cross things off. Do you have an effective method? Please do tell!
These magnificent lists above are

Escher Gunewardena
I just returned from a stellar long weekend in Los Angeles. The weather was perfect and WARM! Since our new car purchase (Honda Hybrid) we are finally free to roam and ol'girl (geo prizm) will remain a city girl to the end of her days.
A trip to see my belle-mére ( so much nicer than mother-in-law don't you think) and a couple friends and some of my old professors. Frank and Ravi two superbly talented architects who's work you see above were oh so kind to take some time out to chat and have lunch with me. Not only did I get a chance to peruse their offices and projects I got a chance to meet the whole team. Thanks to you both, for your support and encouragement and I enjoyed meeting everyone who works for you. Such a smart and friendly group!
