Jo Hamilton

I've already mentioned that our friends wedding was the most beautiful weddings we have ever attended and it was for details like this. (You can get a sneak peek of the wedding over here.) The night before the wedding they held a cocktail party at the Orchard house at the Korakia and this portrait hung above the fireplace.

Jo Hamilton is an artist they came across on one of their many visits to Portland (the grooms family lives there) and they knew they had to commission this piece.  I think one of my favorite elements (besides the obvious and astounding fact that it is a crocheted portrait!) is all the uncut bits of yarn that hang below the portrait and that it stands so well on the wall on its own with no need for any framing. Which we all know is always a plus, why of why does framing cost so much? You an check out more of her work here.
