Hooray for Herrero

I've been meaning to go by and photograph this new Neighborhood treasure for awhile now... but time continually slips away... forgive me won't you?

Jens Hoffman, curator, had many up and coming international artists involved in a show, Passengers. Federico Herrero was chosen as one of the artists hailing from Central America, Costa Rica to be exact.

As part of an exhibit for the Wattis Center at CCA, they decided his work was best suited for an outdoor location and knocked on the door of a Potrero Hill resident. It apparently was to be up only until the end of August but I hope the owner chooses to leave it up for all of us up on the hill, we need more example of murals like Federico's that delight the eye.

Exhibits to get to...

There are surprisingly a considerable amount of exhibits around town these days. I've got to get out from behind this screen.

Maya Lin (above images from the Chronicle) at the DeYoung I can't wait to get to.

The YSL exhibit.

Martin Puryear at the Moma, which I missed the opening to... boo!

And I'm interested to see where this goes.

Forest Chair

This chair would have been absolutely perfect for a project we just finished. I promise there will be pictures soon. The forest chair is by Janus et Cie.

A path to take...

All the sidewalks in Rio look like this. What a beauty to a look at everyday. I'm dreaming of warm balmy places... or perhaps just a place to clear my head. Perhaps a walk at lunch today will help.

Storage House a la GORM

Who wouldn't love these storage houses? They simultaneously act as amusing little objects that house all the items that look better behind closed doors. Perfect for utensils you don't use all the time but want to have at hand or if you just live in a small rental and need to get creative with your storage space. There's just one problem... anyone know who designed them and if they are available? I earmarked them at least 6mos ago ... and it seems I have lost the contact information.

Update: Its the lovely Studio GORM and um of course thay graduated from Eindhoven.... so jealous!

Ugh why oh why are my photos getting cut off all of a sudden? Anyone know how to fix this?

Michelle

I'll try to stop obsessing over the election this year but I have one more add.
Isn't it so nice to have a first lady who is strong, intelligent, and every bit her husbands equal.
That and I truly love Elisabeth Peyton's work and wish I could see her exhibition at the New Museum. Apparently this piece was commissioned by W magazine.

So Good!

I just love this image created by Patrick Moberg. I can't believe it took us so long. Although if the shoe were on another foot... what other country would elect someone to office that represents 12% of the population. Well... I think Obama represents so much more but you know what I mean...
