Modiste

I've been a bit mad as of late having really no time to myself let alone time to post here. It feels good I tell ya to have this Saturday afternoon to myself.
So what have I been doing.... well having a dress made for one. It has been oh so delightful. I think this is something everyone must do at least once in their lives. I'm having the dress made over at Al's attire in North Beach.

Here are a few sneak peaks in to the process.

- I've brought in my ideas, images, existing dress, thoughts, etc.
- Pricilla and AL put out books for me to peruse (Vionnet, Biba, and Ossie Clark) to help me with the vocabulary of the dress
- Al took all my measurements and took photos of my front, profile, and back
- I've gone through the fabric books and have chosen the fabric.
- And now have been to two muslin fittings.
- The next step is the fitting in the actual fabric. whoo who!

Studio Ilse

Mr J and I have been discussing a bedroom redo and this room by Ilse Crawford makes me so happy! Those deep lush colors. Found over here and here.

ca love fornia

David Rager (also pictured a post down with Cheri) captured exactly how I feel about California. I really can't imagine living anywhere else in The States. Perhaps that is close minded of me but every time I try to think of someplace else my mind comes up with a million reasons why those places aren't California.
So in the words of Lovefoxx ...

'California is my Boyfriend'

And this site has me wanting to do a redesign .... but oh how I need a website up first.

I give up!

Okay Okay, I give up I profess my love for The Selby. I tried to keep my secret but I can't my heart is bursting. I adore seeing people's spaces and seeing them in their spaces shot artfully well... well whats a girl to do but confess her crush. And how lovely is it to meet Cheri of Scout Holiday and her man. Just lovely I tell you.

And the answer is...

My beautiful backside by doshi levien.

I have to say this is the first time in a long long looooong time that I've been inspired by a sofa. Perhaps this will come off pompous but being surrounded by good design on a daily basis you get a bit jaded as to what is truly good and not overplayed. I'm sure working at Limn way back in the day has ruined me for you begin to think that that kind of environment is normal and your expectations skyrocket.

Either way I think these two have something really special. I'll be watching!

And on a more serious note... If the world could vote?

My beautiful backside

Can you guess what this image inspired? I knew instantly upon seeing it. Although granted I knew of the piece that transpired.

Flights of Fancy

I've watched this go up day by day as its at the UCSF fitness center (my gym). I took a photo or two but Christina's are much better. Christina Empedocles is a CCA graduate. I love that UCSF finds it important to support local artists. I don't know the details of how the commission came about but I love that I get to walk by it nearly everyday.
