Flow Market

At the ICFF a couple years back I was intrigued by the rows and rows of dead simple and aesthetically pleasing packaging products that the Danish FLOWmarket had constructed I picked up a '1/4 unconditional love' for my love at home. Well it started to do funny things so I looked them up to see if I could do anything about my contorting container.
I was pleasantly surprised with their 'did you know column' and after reading all their consumer awareness mantras I think I will just drill a hole in the bottom and release the science water within.

Nellie Mckay

I must be living under a rock to not hear about Nellie.... think Sarah Silverman crossed with Nora Jones ... okay that description is cheesy but I've got your attention no?
I found out about her through Terry Gross because I'm a public radio freak... its sad really.

Speaking of public radio Starlee Kine wrote a break up song with the help of none other than Phil Collins as well as musicians Julia Greenburg and Joe Mcginty. They put the song up for a 'remix contest' you can hear the winners here. So fun and a genius idea. I think Roxy Moron & the Bible is my favorite.

Olafur Eliasson

I'm finally getting this up here... its been a busy few weeks. eep!

The whole office went to see the Olafur Eliasson exhibit (Thanks Yakuh!) at the sfmoma and it was everything I'd hoped it would be. Especially since the sfmoma has not had a decent exhibit since the Matthew Barney 'Drawing Restraint'. Hello sfmoma do you hear me? 'Matisse and beyond' is not what I expect from a modern art museum at some point certain works are just not modern anymore.

Okay back to Eliasson...
I love that I can walk into this restrictive building and be transported to a completely different country, climate, perception of space. We all need a little lift out of our too often narrowly viewed environment and Olafur takes you there.

The photos above I took in the main space since of course all other photos are forbidden. If you are in San Francisco Go Go Go! Jeff Wall and Joseph Cornell are also there right now... they make an excellent trio.

Stuart Haygarth

I came across the 'Tide Chandelier' via sfgirlbybay awhile back and couldn't stop thinking of it so here it is in all it's whimsical glory. It seems Stuart produced these chandeliers with items he found washed up upon the shore. This particular piece is a collection of all plastic man-made pieces with some sort of translucency. You can check out more of his work here.

Ikea showing you the plan

Found these over at Swiss Miss. How fun! Cheers to Jung von Matt in Hamburg for coming up with this one.

The Village Barbershop

I fell hard for the poster design of the upcoming film 'The Village Barbershop'. After reading the synopsis I practically fell on my face... the illustration and the rain cloud of hair is brilliant. The designer is Sean Farrell of Bald Guy greeting cards. ( A little creepier a la Edward Gorey with a dash of the grotesque ) The photographer and photoshop genius is Claude Shade. Both are based in San Francisco.
